Overview Handwritten letter in ink from S. Bernstein, St. Paul, Minnesota to Dr. Charles Spivak, in which he asks for David Saltpeter to be accepted in the sanatorium when possible. He mentions Saltpeters are one of the oldest Jewish settlers, and that his family is willing to donate $200 to the institution. Letter is signed by S. Bernstein.
Overview Russian born Samuel D. Bernstein married Lena and had, possibly, seven children: Aron, Harry, Morris, Rose, Bernie Moses, and Shirley; though the census records are confusing. Samuel worked in livestock, hides and wool. Collection contains a draft of “Our Pioneers,” and papers related to the Samuel Bernstein Family from 1980 through 2000 including a brief family tree chart.
