Samuel Bernstein Family Papers

Identifier: B291
Russian born Samuel D. Bernstein married Lena and had, possibly, seven children: Aron, Harry, Morris, Rose, Bernie Moses, and Shirley; though the census records are confusing. Samuel worked in livestock, hides and wool. Collection contains a draft of “Our Pioneers,” and papers related to the Samuel Bernstein Family from 1980 through 2000 including a brief family tree chart.

The collection included a 1992 copy of the Judd (Judelovitz or Judelowitz) family tree and a baby book for Leonard Bernstein. The family tree and baby book have been moved to the Bernstein Family Papers B338. A connection between the two families could not be drawn as to why the Judd Family documents and the Leonard Bernstein baby book were put with the Samuel Bernstein Family papers other than a mistake due to the similar collection names. The is a Sam J. Bernstein in the Judd family tree but not the same Sam D.Bernstein. KBC 9/20/2017
