Adams, Elsie W.
Biography
Elsie W. Adams was born in Denver and graduated from East High in 1906. That year she became the family breadwinner and she put off her plans to attend the University of Denver and became a teacher. In 1912, she was hired by the Denver public school system and while teaching received her B.A. and M.A in education from the University of Denver. After she was forced to retire from Denver public schools, the Presbyterian teacher was invited by the new Hillel Academy to be the English principle. After 14 years of teaching and being the secular education at the school. Elsie Adams retired from Hillel Academy at the age of 78 in June of 1987.
