Biography

Joseph and Lena Zelinger were the parents of Lena Zelinger. Brunetta and Lena arrived in the United States in June of 1855. Joseph Zelinger was an early freighter in Denver. Lena married Dr. John Elsner in Denver, Colorado in 1867. Their daughter Rosalinde was born in 1867 and some 15 years later the Elsners adopted Edward, the youngest member of a theatrical troupe passing through Denver. Lena was active in Denver's Jewish and secular communities. Lena died in Denver on November 29, 1929.

Abstract Dr. John Elsner was born in Vienna on May 4, 1844 and came to America with his family after the failed Hungarian Revolution in 1948. Elsner graduated from the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary and in 1866 he graduated from the Bellevue Hospital Medical College in New York.
