Overview Jews headed to Colorado with the Gold Rush of 1858-1859. Early settlers were merchants, peddlers, failed prospectors, wage workers, and health seekers. They included Reform German Jews such as Julius Mitchell, Fred Salomon, Hyman Salomon, Leopold Mayer, Abraham Jacobs, Joel Gottlieb, and Wolfe Londoner.
