Biography

Jerry Mellman (Aleksei Kolesnikov) was born May 26, 1927 and died in Denver August 6, 2018. He obtained a law degree, but soon became a sports photojournalist for the Intermountain Jewish News (IJN). He was at the IJN by the late 1930s. He was a fixture at sport games around Denver and also took photographs of sports legends such as Muhammad Ali. Jerry Mellman and his wife Genevieve's son David became a physician.

Abstract The Denver Public Library began the Creating Communities Project in 2008. The library and partners, including the Rocky Mountain Jewish Historical Society (RMJHS), contributed information and digitized images on different Denver neighborhoods.
