Howe, Herbert A. (Herbert Alonzo), 1858-1926
Biography
"Serving concurrently as director of Chamberlin Observatory, dean of the College of Liberal Arts and dean of the Graduate College throughout most of the 1890s, he added the duties of acting chancellor when Dr. [William Fraser] McDowell resigned in 1899." Herbert Howe served as acting chancellor from June 1899 to December 1899, when Henry Augustus Buchtel was appointed.
