Marie [Maria] Lilli Margarete Bätge, b. Tallinn, m. Herr Steinberg, had one daughter, Karin M. Steinberg; then m. Dr. Max Israel Löwenstein (later Max Israel Loewenstein) in 1925; their son Ernst Heinrich Löwenstein (later Henry Lowenstein) b. Ink wash painting titled "Despair" of a woman sitting on a short stool in front of a Fanklin stove with the door open and a pot on top. Sitting on the floor is an empty basket. Behind the woman is a window and a shelf with a candle and two canisters. Ink wash is done on an old roll of unused wallpaper as stated by the artist in a 1971 Rocky Mountain News Article. Ration card issued to Max Lowenstien, ID number 6389 in district M by the "Jüdische Gemeinde zu Berlin" or the "Jewish Community in Berlin." The bottom of the card is signed "Maria Lowenstein." Ten columns across back titled Kartoffeln (potato), Gemüse (vegetables) and then labeld A-H. There are several date stamps across the columns.
