Biographical / Historical
Fannie Eller Lorber was born in Russia in 1881 and settled with her family in the West Colfax area in 1896. In 1907, she and her close friend Bessie Willens spearheaded the founding of the Denver Sheltering Home for Jewish Children, largely to take care of the children whose parents were stricken with tuberculosis and later children with asthma . Fannie Lorber was president of the facility from 1907 until her death in 1958.
