Saliman's E and C Grill Menu, September 1933
Abstract
The item is a Saliman's E and C Grill Menu from September 1933. The menu has the same information on both sides, except that a small "five o'clock Special Short Orders" menu has been inserted inside the menu's plastic covering on one of the sides. The main menu has NRA (National Recovery Administration) logo on the top of the menu on the left and right. The law was passed in 1933 to allow codes of fair competion and changes in labor laws, including minimum wages and outlawing child labor, during the Great Depression. Some of the drinks, such as Budweiser and Pabst, have a highlighted note of "(Near Beer)." Prohibition was not repealed until December of 1933, after the date of the menu.
