Container 104: Hand-Illustrated Strategic Planning Posters, 2013

This box contains two (2) large posters that were created by the DU Daniels College of Business faculty and staff. The posters were created while faculty and staff were developing a strategic plan for the Daniels College of Business in 2013. Presumably, Alchemy is the company that hosted the strategic planning event and created/illustrated these posters as a result of the faculty and staff discussions and ideas.

The first large poster is 4 feet tall by 6.5 feet wide, and it is titled "Daniels College of Business. All About Daniels: Creating our Future." This poster asks the Daniels College of Business faculty and staff three (3) questions and recorded their answers along with fitting hand-drawn illustrations. The first question is, "If Daniel's success were completely guaranteed, what BOLD STEPS would you take?" Some answers that this poster features include "creative teaching, expand internships, more experiential, diverse classroom, world class online programming, job/school preparation, emphasis on research" and more. The second question asks "5 years from now, what has taken place to ensure the enduring success of this world-class institution?" The answers to this question include "adaptation to future students, increased alumni engagement, healthy endowment, less dependent on tuition, de-emphasis of publish or perish mindset, integration and collaboration between departments" and more. The last question asks "How will you know you have achieved unprecendented SUCCESS?" Answers to this question include "all time high employee and student satisfaction, endowment, recognized for top talent, meaningful rankings, world wide brand awareness, high alumni engagement, lower staff/student/faculty turnover, engaged international students, nationally/globally recognized," and more. The second large poster is 4 feet tall by 7.5 feet wide, it is also titled "Daniels College of Business. All About Daniels: Creating our Future. "This poster asks the same questions as the the second poster: (Q1)"If Daniel's success were completely guaranteed, what BOLD STEPS would you take?", (Q2)"5 years from now, what has taken place to ensure the enduring success of this world-class institution?", and (Q3)"How will you know you have achieved unprecendented SUCCESS?" This poster also has the answers written in colorful and bold lettering with corresponding hand-drawn illustrations featured throughout the poster. Some of the answers for Question 1 (Q1) include "affordable tuition, drop quarter system, bring back football, smaller classes, national reputation of pro-bono work, record all lectures in all classrooms, 100% immediate job placement, hire more people," and more. Some of the answers for Question 2 (Q2) include "employers see value in our students, pride collegiality, faculty diversity, more engagement, bigger endowment, leaders, brand respected, national rankings," and more. Some of the answers for Question 3 (Q3) include "$100 million endowment, increased alumni engagement, diversity, ranked #1, placement of students in fulfilling life roles, low faculty and staff turnover, engaged around social and environment issues changing the world," and more.
