Abstract

One folder containing various notices and speeches concerning Jack Greenwald and his second Bar Mitzvah when he was eighty-three. There are three speeches Jack Greenwald honoring his father Rabbi Harav Yekusiel Yehuda Greenwald. Jack Greenwald's first speech was in 2003 when he was about to be seventy-three. Attached to the speech is All The Laws of Mourning written by Rabbi Greenwald in 1947. The second speech was the observation of the 50th Yahrzheit (memorial) of Rabbi Greenwald, and the third speech was written for Jack Greenwald's second Bar Mitzvah. Rabbi Greenwald only knew German and had to learn Yiddish before he became rabbi of the Beth-Jacob Shul in Columbus, Ohio, a Yiddish speaking synagogue.

The collection contains papers, publications, correspondence, clippings, copies of articles, and speeches by and/or about Jack Greenwald. Materials highlight Mr. Greenwald's involvement and work with Jewish Day School education, State of Isreal Bonds, and the Anit-Defamation League, and includes many of his personal and editorial writings, as well as four dinner journals.
