Abstract

Formal portrait of Michel Saliman. Michel Saliman was born in Russia in 1852. He came to Denver in 1886 and died in 1910. He was a leader of west Denver and when he died it was said that ''all of West Colfax shut down.''

From the Collection:

The collection contains materials intentionally assembled by the Ira M. and Peryle Hayutin Beck Memorial Archives of Jews in the Rocky Mountain region. The bulk of the photographs are from or related to various towns in Colorado, but the collection also contains photographs from other states in the western United States and other countries. There are some 19th century photograph types represented in the collection, including albumen prints, daguerrotypes, tintypes, post cards, colorized prints, cabinet cards, and cartes-de-visite.

Fair Photograph has been tinted. 16 x 10 inches color

Condition Report

The photo and backing are warped. there are a few small tears and loss around the edge of the photo. There is a tear in the cardboard backing that does not show on the front of the photo. (TKW, 2009-06-01)

Donated by Mrs. Richard Saliman in 1976. Richard Saliman is the grandson of Michel Saliman.
