Abstract
A group of early Jewish residents of Cripple Creek, Colorado, gathered for a social outing in the 1890s. The following are pictured: Sarah Sticker, Mrs. Gus Mautner, Mrs. L. Cohen, Mrs. Rosenberg, Mrs. Max Guldman, Clara Kolm, Dick Cohen, Paula Heller, Anna Segal, Regina Roth, Sadie Levy, May Garrett, Gertie Garrett, Mrs. L. Cripple Creek was a thriving mining town in the 1890s with an active Jewish community. Many Jewish merchants established themselves in Cripple Creek. Jewish religious services were held regularly, and a B'nai B'rith chapter was founded in 1901. After mining petered out in the area in the early years of the 20th century, most Jews moved to Denver.
