Abstract

Blank questionnaire for the Yuli M. Vorontsov Memorial Project created by Deborah A. Palmieri of the Russian Institute. This questionnaire asks about the life and career of Mr. Vorontsov. It also provides a section for the respondent to provide personal impressions and memories. This version of the questionnaire was sent to diplomats who worked with Mr. Vorontsov.

Scope and Contents

From the Series:

Series two contains several questionnaires and interviews featuring or related to the life and work of Yuli Vorontsov. There are three transcripts of interviews with Deborah Palmieri, the archive's donor, featuring Aleksandr Illitchev, S. V. Garmonin, and V. I. Churkin. The series also contains two questionnaires created by Deborah Palmieri in order to gather information from people that knew Vorontsov for the ''Yuli M. Vorontsov Memorial Project''. The two questionnaires differ in their approach depending on whether or not they were a business or a diplomatic acquaintence of Vorontsov's. Included in the questionnaire repsonses are the answers of Chestnoy, Garrison, Peyton, and Yanney. The series contains remarks delivered by Vorontsov at the George Washington University regarding the expansion of NATO without Russia's involvement. The series contains two documents obtained from the Telegraph Agency of the Soviet Union (TASS). One is a statment made by Vorontsov regarding Afghanistan in 1988, and the other is an article written about an interview with Vorontsov by the Islamic Republic News Agency. The series also contains a speech made in 1993 by Vorontsov to the UN regarding the Bosnian Croat paramilitary offensive. There is an interview with Vorontsov from 1997 conducted by the Russian newspaper Trud. There are three documents that make up the full text of an interview that Palmieri conducted with Vorontsov gave in 1998. The actual audio of this transcript exists in Series 3. Two more articles, from 2003 and 2007, feature an interviews with Vorontsov that were printed in Russia's ''What the Papers Say''.
