Abstract

James O. Milmoe is a prolific photographer of fine art and educator. This collection consists of lectures, artist profiles, published works, and other documents.

Marilynn Milmoe was James' wife who wrote two cookbooks: "For Goodness Sake... Another Cookbook!" (1975) and "For Goodness Sake... That's My Recipe!" (1982). This collection contains materials used to develop these cookbooks, recipes collected by Marilynn, ephemera collected by Marilynn, cooking publications, homemade recipe binders, and recipe boxes. This collection also includes Milmoe family papers such as emails, photographs, personal correspondence, postcards, notes, and letters.

Biographical / Historical

James (Jim) O. Milmoe earned his Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Denver in 1978. He is a Fellow of the Photographic Society of America, a Charter Member of the Colorado Chapter of the American Society of Magazine Photographers and the recipient of the Colorado Governor's Award. He worked as an educator at various Colorado universities, has offered over 236 lectures to professional and amateur photography organizations as well, is published in over 150 national and international publications, and has been featured in over 150 exhibitions.

Marilynn Milmoe was James Milmoe's wife for 62 years. She was his Photographic Assistant, writer, travel coordinator, art activist, bookkeeper, and proofreader. Her and Jim also raised five (5) children. She recieved her BA in Political Science at Denison University. Her and Jim moved to Colorado in 1953. Marilynn co-authored two (2) cookbooks with Greta Hilb - "For Goodness Sake... Another Cookbook!" (1975) and "For Goodness Sake... That's My Recipe!" (1982).
