Abstract

Alexander Kagan was born in Paris, France in 1906 to Russian parents. At the age of 14, Alexander began work as a fabric and jewelry designer. He came to the United States in 1922 with his mother Chana (Anna) and his brother Haim Persah (Paul). He worked as a fabric designer in New York and in 1930 he became a US citizen. In 1942, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps and was stationed in Pueblo, Colorado. He graduated from the University of Denver in 1954 and died in the Denver area in 1994. Collection contains household goods, scrapbooks, photographs, art, correspondence, papers, "writers" from World War II and documents related to Kagan Family. Includes a drawing of Mary Reed Library by Alexander Kagan from 1948.

He came to the United States in 1922 with his mother Chana (Anna) and his brother Haim Persah (Paul). He worked as a fabric designer in New York and in 1930 he became a US citizen. In 1942, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps and was stationed in Pueblo, Colorado. He graduated from the University of Denver in 1954 and died in the Denver area in 1994. Chana (Anna) Lippmann Kagan was born in Dwinsk, Russia in 1887 and died in New York in 1944. Her son Paul Kagan was born in 1903 in Petrograd, Russia and they moved to Paris in 1905.

Scope and Contents

Collection contains household goods, scrapbooks, photographs, art, correspondence, papers, "writers" from World War II and documents related to Kagan Family. Includes a drawing of Mary Reed Library by Alexander Kagan from 1948.The household goods include a samovar and coffee pot. The art includes drawings and sketches done by Alexander Kagan. Correspondence includes postcards sent to Anna Kagan.
