Abstract

Collection contains burial records from Jewish cemeteries in Colorado. The Old Capitol Hill Cemetery, Rose Hill Cemetery, Mt. Nebo Cemetery, Golden Hill Cemetery, and Fairmount Cemetery from 1871 through 1921 are including in the collection. Records include (if known) names, place of birth, birthdate, age, marital status, cause of death, and date of death.

Abstract The Jewish Community Center Ranch Camp is located on 175 acres in the Black Forest near Elbert, Colorado. Ralph Hubbard purchased the land in 1916 and sold it in 1943. His property was a working ranch known as "The Ten Sheep" or "Hubbard Ranch." The Robert E. Loup Jewish Community Center of Denver purchased the property in 1952 and the camp opened in 1953. Abstract The Jewish Consumptives' Relief Society was known as the JCRS and was founded in Denver, Colorado in 1904 as a non-sectarian sanatorium to treat tuberculosis (TB) patients, free of charge, in all stages of the disease. The society was one of the leading tuberculosis sanatoria in the country at the turn of the century founded by a group of immigrant Eastern European Jewish men, many of whom were themselves victims of TB. The Jewish Education Task Force was created in the Spring of 1988 to explore the problems and challenges faced by the community in the area of Jewish education, as a result of the 1987 seminar "Major Issues in Jewish Education" presented by the Jewish Education Service of North America (JESNA). The Jewish National Workers Alliance was a mutual aid society founded in 1912. The Labor Zionist organization was Yiddish speaking and organized insurance and medical plans as well as schools. Collection contains the charter certificate of Denver branch number 303 of the Jewish National Workers Alliance 1941; later known as the Farband-Labor Zionist Order.

The booklets are the product of the New Mexico Jewish Historical Society's Jewish Pioneer Oral History Video Archive Project, conducted in partnership with the Department of History and the Center for Regional Studies at the University of New Mexico. The booklets are composed of recollections of the family members. The "Jewish Pioneers of New Mexico" (2003) is an exhibit catalogue from an exhibit at the Museum of New Mexico.
