Abstract

Phi Sigma Delta Fraternity was formed in 1909 at Columbia University and operated until in 1969-70, Phi Sigma Delta and Phi Epsilon Pi merged into Zeta Beta Tau. Phi Sigma Delta (Theta chapter) fraternity was organized at University of Colorado in 1919. Collection contains photographs, scrapbooks, publications, and administrative papers from Phi Sigma Delta, Theta 1918 through 1981.

Abstract Louis K. Sigman, the owner of K&G packing, the largest independent meat packing plant in Colorado, was the son of East European immigrants. Born in 1881 in New York, he moved to Denver as a young boy. Louis began his meat business with just one calf and went on to become a well-known philanthropist active in the founding of Rose Hospital and treasurer of the National Home for Jewish Children.
