Abstract Meta Loewenstein was born May 10, 1891, in a small town in Germany. In 1914, she met Paul Katzenstein, but before they could be married World War I began, and Paul was taken into the German army. He served four years in the army and came home severely wounded. Paul and Meta were married in 1919. Their first son was named Otto in honor of Paul’s brother who died in the war. But he was called by his middle name Victor most of his life. Vytatutas F. Beliajus was born in Lithuania in 1908 and emigrated to the United States in 1923. He became proficient in a wide range of folk dance styles from around the world and traveled around the country teaching folk dance, becoming known as the father of international folk dance in the United States. This collection includes periodicals and books related to folk dancing.
