Box 66, 1899-1920
Box contains red vest worn by chancellor Buchtel in his time as chancellor from 1899 to 1920. Box also contains plaque from display case in which the vest used to be housed with the inscription "original chancellor's red vest bequeathed by Henry Augustus Buchtel Chancellor 1899 to 1920" There are several photos of chancellor Alter wearing this vest during his time as chancellor.

This box contains several books belonging to Chester M. Alter on the study of chemistry, geology, and general science education. While several of the books are in decent condition, a book titled "Inorganic Quantitative Analysis" has damage to the spine.

This box contains several books from Alter's personal collection on a variety of topics including chemistry, physics, and geology. The books are all in decent condition with no notable damage. This box also includes Alter's Masters thesis from Indiana University Bloomington (A Study of the Electrodeposition of Chromium, 1928) and PhD thesis from Harvard University (Investigations on Atomic Weights Nitrogen, Indium, and Radiogenic Lead, 1934).
