Abstract Letter from C.D. Spivak to J. Schkolnick. Spivak tells Schkolnick that a death certificate cannot be mailed until the funeral expenses have been paid. Spivak also states that $7.10 in cash and a watch were found on the body of Adolph Schkolnick. The new amount for the burial would be $24.40 after the addition of the cash amount. Spivak adds a postscript that states Adolph did not mention anything about belonging to an organization. Also, he needs to add $1.00 for the amount of the death...

Handwritten letter from Mrs. Fannie Cohen to C.D. Spivak. Mrs. Cohen tells Spivak that she has attempted to obtain a death certificate from the Colorado State Board of Health for the death of her husband, but they told her that they do not have Julius Cohen’s death on record. Mrs. Cohen is asking Spivak for his help in obtaining a death certificate since he died at the sanatorium. She thanks him in advance.

Abstract Letter from J. Schkolnick to C.D. Spivak. Schkolnick explains that he is not able to spare any cash for his brother’s burial, but his brother did belong to the Workmen’s Circle Branch 80 and they would be able to pay for Adolph Schkolnick’s burial. Schkolnick explains to Spivak that he must receive a copy of his brother’s death certificate to show the Workmen’s Circle so that they would be willing to pay for the burial. Schkolnick also requested that Spivak send him any papers left behind...

Dr. Lewis Hill Chernoff was an accomplished violinist who played with the Denver Symphony and Carvallo's Symphony. He was also a chemist and worked for the Food and Drug Administration in Denver. Collection contains miscellaneous papers, diplomas and certificates largely relating to Lewis Chernoff and some to Sophie Chernoff.
