Abstract This letter is addressed to Franz (Frank) Loeb, from Amsterdam on November 14th, 1938 from Walter (Schuckman). This is four days after Kristallnacht occur4ed. In the letter, Walter is relaying information about the Loeb family to Frank, who had immigrated to the United States months earlier. Walter tells Frank that the newspaper stories about Germany are not exaggerating, and don't tell the whole awful truth. Walter says, "I am ashamed to at least nominally belong to such a nation." In the back row from left to right are Morris (Moshe) Levitt, Tillie Levitt (Tein), and Mary Levitt (Rubanowitz). In the front row from left to right are Anne Levitt (Marcus), Edward Levitt, and Dorothy Levitt (Cohen). The children's' parents were Isadore and Yetta Prezant Levitt who settled in the Eastern European Jewish neighborhood around West Colfax Avenue.
