Abstract Friends of Shalom Park is a group of volunteers and supporters of the Jewish nursing home and residential senior center, Shalom Park, in Aurora, Colorado. As a fundraising project, the group created the cookbook entitled, Shalom on the Range: A Roundup of Recipes and Jewish Traditions from Colorado Kitchens. The collection includes the published cookbook as well as administrative documents, marketing material, and publicity forms that describe the book's planning and publication process....

Abstract Exterior view of the Geriatric Center at Beth Israel Hospital in Denver, Colorado at the corner of Sixteenth Avenue and Lowell Boulevard. Beth Israel opened in Denver's west-side community in 1920 as a Jewish old-age home. It added a Jewish-run general hospital in 1923. Sparked by Bella Mintz, it garnered the support of members of Denver's Jewish community from throughout the city. Philanthropists Leopold Guldman, Isadore Rude, and Adolph Kiesler provided especially generous donations....

Abstract Mottel Cohen (1832-1947) was a prominent member of the Denver Jewry, and died at the impressive age of 114 years. Cohen was born in Czarist Russia, and fled from persecution to Argentina during the 1890s with his wife and twelve children. In 1898, the family migrated to New York, and moved to Denver soon after that. During his later years, Cohen was a resident of Beth Israel Home for the Aged, and known for his boisterous nature.
