Abstract Jewish merchants and peddlers settled in Central City during the Pikes Peak gold rush. Approximately 70 Jews settled there in the 1870s, and services were held in homes and stores. There was a mikvah. Prominent families included the Rachofskys, Jacobs's, Wisebarts, Schwaydesr, Kobeys and Maymons.
