Overview Charlotte Irey talks about her lifetime in dance. She had her first taste of modern dance at the age of 17 when she traveled to Dresden, Germany to study with Mary Wigman. Modern dance was in its infancy at this time (1930s). The dance training that she had did not prepare her for the non-technique modern dance taught by Wigman. Overview Since 2004, the Friends of The Dance Archive have honored several individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to dance as "Legends of Dance in Colorado" each year. This collection contains plaques inscribed with the names of the honorees, as well as files containing transcripts of oral histories with the honorees, biographical information about them, and audiovisual recordings from the annual awards banquet.
