Abstract

Noel Hefty began her arts career as a dancer, earning her degree in Dance Education at the University of Wisconsin. Noel moved to Steamboat Springs and began her association with Perry-Mansfield Performing Arts School and Camp and started the Steamboat Dance Theatre alongside Kay Henderson and others. This collection contains materials given to Noel by a family friend, David Watson. The materials document the H.M.S. Tiptoe of the Royal Navy.

Abstract

Barker highlights his appointment to and his experiences at the Annapolis Naval Academy. He recalls his first official Navy appointment as staff in the Naval Submarine School, and subsequent duties such as his involvement in submarine operations in the Mediterranean following the Cuban Missile Crisis and as officer-in-charge of the Holy Loch [Scotland] submarine base. Barker presents a survey of life on a submarine and what it was like to be a submariner.
