Abstract The Hebrew Educational Alliance's original building at West Colfax and Meade Street. It was founded in 1932 and became the largest congregation on Denver's west side. The Hebrew Educational Alliance was created as a result of the ''alliance'' between the Beth David Hebrew School Sisterhood and Brotherhood, and the Denver Hebrew Institute. A group of men stand on the wood sidewalk in front of a row of buildings. A sign reads, "Gotthelf & Mayer Bank, Dry Goods and Clothing, Groceries" and other signs read, "Saguache County Bank", "Gotthelf & Mayer" and "Ruby Saloon". Leopold Mayer began as a shoe and boot merchant.

The exterior of the M. Wise Store in Trinidad, Colorado, is shown with three men standing in front of the door before an unpaved street. The sign above the door reads, "M. Wise and Co." and advertises dry goods, clothing, liquor, and groceries. Three men stand further down the street. Maurice Wise may have been the first Jewish merchant in Trinidad.
