Abstract

Print of a color portrait painting of University of Denver third chancellor Henry Augustus Buchtel. Buchtel served as chancellor of the University of Denver from 1899-1920. He also served as the Governor of Colorado from 1907-1909. Portrait was painted by Jean Mannheim while Buchtel was governor of Colorado in 1906.

Abstract

Henry J. Schwartz was born in Russia and came to New York with his parents. He settled in Denver in 1895 and married Mollie K. Kohn in 1898. Henry Schwartz was an original member of the Jewish Consumptives' Relief Society board of directors and served as president and vice president of the JCRS. He was also a member of the Town Club. Much of the scrapbook has clipplings on the JCRS, but also on politics, Temple Emanuel, and obituaries for Dr. Philip Hillkowitz.

He had been sick for one and half years upon his arrival to Denver, Colorado. He was married and had one child. His occupation states he worked as a store keeper. He was in Riverdale Hospital before applying for JCRS....
