Abstract

Chest piece and rubber tube of a Fleischer stethoscope used by Dr. Arthur L. Esserman, a pediatrician in Denver, Colorado. The chest piece is silver-plated metal with the front covered by black plastic. The stethoscope was designed by Andrew W. ''Doc'' Fleischer and manufactured by the Becton-Dickinson company. Dr. Arthur L. Esserman (born 1898) was an intern at Children's Hospital in Denver from 1924 to 1926 and practiced pediatric medicine from 1926 until his death in 1952.

Abstract

Chest x-rays of an unidentified patient at the Jewish Consumptives' Relief Society (JCRS). X-rays were taken to see how badly tuberculosis had progressed in patients. The JCRS was a sanatorium for tuberculosis patients that was founded in 1904 by a group of immigrant Jewish workingmen along with the support of several leading physicians and rabbis in Denver, Colorado. The sanatorium was located on West Colfax Avenue just outside of Denver.

Chest x-rays on the campus of the Jewish Consumptives' Relief Society (JCRS).
