Abstract Professor Howe's diary for 1926 recounts his brief weather and astronomical observations, administrative and teaching activities at the University of Denver, entertainment of visitors to the Chamberlin Observatory, participation in events in University Park and elsewhere in Denver, his family and religious life. Howe retired in May as the longest tenured professor at the University. Howe's handwriting in the entries for June 26 and 27 deteriorates markedly, and he notes he was sick in bed...

Abstract Herbert A. Howe (1858-1926) was Professor of Astronomy and Applied Mathematics, Director of Chamberlin Observatory, Dean of College of Arts and Sciences, and Dean of the Graduate School at the University of Denver, Denver, Colorado. He was instrumental in building the University of Denver's Chamberlin Observatory (1890) named after Humphrey B. Chamberlin.
