Connie Fisher and Ann Blessin Liturgical Dance Collection

Abstract

Ann Blessin was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, and became involved in sacred dance in Denver, Colorado in 1969. She joined a sacred dance troupe led by Connie Fisher in 1970, and shortly afterward, Fisher and Blessin formed the Rocky Mountain Sacred Dance Guild. Blessin taught sacred dance at the Iliff School of Theology and was president of the National Sacred Dance Guild from 1993-1996. This collection contains videos, books, files, scrapbooks related to the Sacred Dance Guild.

Friends of The Dance Archive 'Legends of Dance in Colorado' Oral Histories

Abstract

Since 2004, the Friends of The Dance Archive have honored several individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to dance as "Legends of Dance in Colorado" each year. This collection contains oral histories, plaques inscribed with the names of the honorees, as well as files containing transcripts of oral histories with the honorees, biographical information about the honorees, and audiovisual recordings and highlight reels from the annual awards banquet.

International Choreographed Ballroom Dance Association Records

The International Choreographed Ballroom Dance Association was started as the National Round Dance Board of Review in 1976-1977, became the Universal Round Dance Council in 1977, and changed to its current name in late 2007. The collection primarily consists of official newsletters and convention syllabi from 1979-2012, plus organizing correspondence from 1976-1979, official convention recordings from 2004-2005, and some ephemera.

Born in West Texas, Jimmy Clossin was a square-dance caller and teacher who published a book of West Texas Cowboy Square Dances. He taught dance classes at universities and schools across the United States.
