Chairs in Opera House Interior
Black and white photograph of the chairs in the interior of the hall of the Opera House. Photograph can also be found in 'Central City Opera; Looking Back Over Sixty Year 1932-1992' caption reads: In the early years, the interior featured sturdy hickory chairs (now cushioned), and a center aisle which no longer exists. This view shows John Massman's ceiling frescoes before the 1987 restoration. '

Charlie H. Johnson for Colorado Reflections
Charlie H. Johnson, historian and author, describes the history of the Central City Opera House. Built in 1878, the Central City Opera House was funded by the community and provided a place for entertainment for miners, pioneers, homesteading families, businessmen, and citizens of Central City. Johnson relays the history of the building and the key people involved with the origination, restoration, and preservation of the opera house.
