Biographical / Historical
Ellen Charlotte Chatfield Batchellor (known familiarly as Nellie) was born in March, 1847 in Mason County, Illinois. She was the fourth child of Levi Tomlinson Chatfield and Lovina Mastick. Her mother died when Ellen was about 11 and she was raised by her brother, Isaac W. Chatfield and his wive Eliza. She married Isaac H. Batchellor on March 13, 1872 in Denver. They had two children, Walter David Batchellor and Charlotte Ellen Batchellor. Ellen died in September 1928 and is buried at Fairmont Cemetery in Denver.
