Abstract

Class of students and teacher of the Yeshiva Etz Chaim School chedar class at 2852 West Fourteenth Avenue in Denver, Colorado's Jewish immigrant enclave. Two adult men stand behind 28 male students. From left to right starting in the first row at the bottom: three unidentified boys, Kandler, Hershkovitz, Ben Fishman, Max Schreiber, Sam Schwartz (the Baker's son), Cohen (the Barber's son), Willie Solomon, Weinstein (Doctor's son), Abe Ornstein, Singer, Phil Richtel, Fabricant (Auto mechanic's son), Bronstien (Chuneh), Abe Weiner (Chickie Boomie), Sam Silver, Lou Siegel (Red), Weinstien (Muttle), Bernstein, Sammy Dare, Rudy Boscoe, Barney Siegel, George Rubin, Joe Sobel, unidentified boy, Al Schiff, Mr. Clarr (teacher), Mr. Greenberg (Mayer Luzer).

From the Collection:

The collection contains materials intentionally assembled by the Ira M. and Peryle Hayutin Beck Memorial Archives of Jews in the Rocky Mountain region. The bulk of the photographs are from or related to various towns in Colorado, but the collection also contains photographs from other states in the western United States and other countries. There are some 19th century photograph types represented in the collection, including albumen prints, daguerrotypes, tintypes, post cards, colorized prints, cabinet cards, and cartes-de-visite.
