Abstract

Aerial view of the campus of the Jewish Consumptives' Relief Society (JCRS). The JCRS was a sanatorium for tuberculosis patients that was founded in 1904 by a group of immigrant Jewish workingmen along with the support of several leading physicians and rabbis in Denver, Colorado. The sanatorium was located on West Colfax Avenue just outside of Denver.

Handwritten on envelope: ''#453 JCRS Buildings, #453 JCRS Physical Plant''. On back of photograph: ''#453 JCRS ''. Originally attached to bottom of photograph: ''This is an airplane view of the Denver Sanatorium of the Jewish Consumptives' Society. It is the largest Jewish institution in the world for the treatment of tuberculosis. Its property consists of 148 acres on which stand 34 buildings and 27 cottage tents. The Sanatorium provides free care... and treatment to all of its patients.''
