Oheb Zedek Congregation Cornerstone

Abstract

Oheb Zadek congregation was founded by a group which broke away from the Beth HaMedrosh Hagadol Congregation (BMH)in 1910. During 1920's it had become the second largest congregation in Denver. The congregation met in various local halls until 1919, when it built a brick structure at 22nd and Marion. The cornerstone is from the "Marion Street Shul." By the 1940s the splinter congregation had returned to BMH and building was sold because of financial problems.

Abstract Mizrachi Organization of America was established in 1902 as a Religious Zionist organization focused on keeping the Torah at the center of the organization. Older Women's League Denver Chapter Papers

Abstract

Older Women's League was founded in 1980 after a White House Conference on Aging in Des Moines, Iowa. Its mission was to be an advocate for older women, from the recognition of the value of their work (paid and unpaid), to health care for all. Issues such as Social Security, caregiving, pension reform were addressed in Mother's Day campaigns. The Denver Chapter participated in all the activities of the national branch, as well as having its own newsletter and gatherings.

Abstract The founders of the Ostrover Beth Jacob Synagogue in Denver, Colorado hailed from Ostrov, Poland. The congregation was formally organized in 1908 as Congregation Ostrover Beth Jacob. Their first building was erected on Clay Street, but the synaogogue was later relocated to Federal Blvd. when the congregants outgrew their building and the city built a viaduct over the first building.
