Abstract May Company advertisement for a sale on hats. The advertisement has drawings of two men with hats and is advertising the sale of the hats for $3.85. There is ink on the reverse of the card because this is an example of an ''advertising blotter.'' David May immigrated to Colorado from Bavaria and started his first clothing store in Leadville in 1887. Later David May opened branches of his store in Irwin, Central City and Denver, Colorado. Navy Blue Plastic Hat with Plaid Polyester Ribbon, circa 1960

Abstract

A navy blue circular plastic ''straw'' hat that was meant to be worn on the back of the crown of the head. Four plaid taffeta bows in blue, navy, red and yellow surround three-quarters of the brim. The inside of the hat has plum colored grosgrain ribbon and black plasticized ''horsehair'' for pinning the hat to the head. The interior label reads: ''Milgrim.''

Olive Green Velvet Hat, circa 1960

Abstract

An olive green velvet hat with a base consisting of two circular wire frames that overlap. Each circular wire frame is covered with olive green knit. The base is covered with multiple olive green velvet strips that are tied in the center making them bow shaped. Over the hat structure is a large square of open weave tulle in a matching green that forms a veil over the face. The label reads: ''Hollywood Denver''. Originally belonged to Sara Isaacson Ettenson.

Collection contains three women's two piece suits designed and handmade by Philip Soloway. The suits were created as a sampler presented to various fashion houses in order to sell his patterns. These suits were probably created in the early 1940s.

Pillbox Hat, circa 1960

Abstract A woman's pillbox style hat covered with small bird feathers in turquoise, red, white and black. The middle of hat does not have feathers. There is an aqua-blue colored velvet bow in the front. An uneven aqua colored tulle covers the entirety of the hat and it forms a veil across the front. There is a hatpin with a black velvet head in the top of crown and a hatpin with white pearl-like bead head in the front rim. This view shows the front of the hat and the two hatpins. Pink Tulle Heart-Shaped Hat with Velvet Bow, circa 1960

Abstract

Pink wide-weave veil whimsy hat shaped into a bowled heart to fit on top of the head. A large pink velour bow is glued to the crown of the hat with a circle backing on the underneath of the hat to hold it in place. The knot of hte bow is located at the inward point of the top of hte heart with the arms stretching to the edges. The hat is 33cm wide at its widest point and 26cm deep (from the inward point to the outer edge). The bow is 31cm wide at the arms and 18cm top-to-bottom.

A plastic fan made in Hong Kong. The fan panels are held together at the top with white satin ribbon and at the bottom with an aluminum ring. There are two black tassels hanging from a piece of black cord.
