Purple Velvet Hat, circa 1956

Abstract

The hat features a circular center with petal shapes going outward. The entire outside of the hat is purple velvet that is wired at the edge and has been manipulated into a shape referred to as ''wired wings''. The inside has light blue taffeta over buckram and a light blue grosgrain ribbon hat band. The interior label reads: ''Kate Ferretti Denver''. From the top view, the hat is meant to resemble a daisy.

Abstract

Clothing ration card issued to Marie Loewenstein. The front cover is filled out by hand with Marie's name and address. The rest of the covers explains the legalities of the ration book, the assessment for substances, and the value of the goods. The inside of the card lists types of clothing and what they are worth. Around the edge are ration tabs some with Roman numerals and some with valid from dates. Most of these tabs are missing.

Abstract An eggshell colored silk embroidered bed jacket with a thin inner lining of silk georgette. This view shows the front of the jacket. Kimono style panels are hand-stitched together and form wide sleeves with cuffs. There are purple, pink, and white silk embroidered flowers and green leaves on the sleeves and back. Silk Child's Dress With Roses, between 1923-1925

Abstract

A pink silk child's dress with off-white lace trim at sleeves and bottom hem. A modified chain stitch embroidery in off-white is at hem and then is repeated above the hem. There is sky blue cotton smocking at the chest in front and back and blue cotton flower embroidery on the front left and right There are eight pink silk roses attached by stitching above bottom hem and two bright pink silk ribbon bows at neck that hide two small metal snaps that close the garment at the neck.

Abstract

Ivory cotton muslin skirt knickers with lace stitching two inches from the bottom of each leg and an ivory cotton drawstring around the waist. The garment is gathered at the knee for fullness under a skirt. A blue and white striped label ironed on inside back of garment states: ''90L92.'' Originally belonged to Flora Anfenger Hornbein.
