Abstract

Excised leaf from an English Book of Common Prayer printed in Cambridge by the University printer, John Hayes, in 1673 (Slotkin's description incorrectly dates the leaf to 1688, presumably an incorrect reading of the Roman numeral date on the facsimile title page). Printed in roman type, originally page 33 of its volume, containing text from Judges chapter 6. Stapled to the righthand side of a sheet with a facsimile of the volume's title page on the left side in black and red ink.

Pages 33 and 34 - early prayer meditation before pre-service, from Zohar book of Jewish mysticism; page 35. - Mah Tovu and Adon Olam; page 36. - continuation of the beginning of the morning prayer service. Estimated date: late 1800s - early 1900s.

Abstract

This is a Rosh Hashana Prayer Book in Hebrew, from 1827. It is associated with Ashkenazi, and was transliterated by Machzor. The cover of this book is brown, with considerable staining, water damage, and other damages. The pages of this book are also water damaged and dirty, though still legible. There is writing in the front and back covers of the book. The first page is illustrated.
