Abstract Jews headed to Colorado with the Gold Rush of 1858-1859. Early settlers were merchants, peddlers, failed prospectors, wage workers, and health seekers. The photograph is on page 193 of Milton Anfenger's scrapbook. It is said that Congregation Emanuel in Denver, Colorado was founded at the bris or circumcision ceremony of Milton Anfenger, the eldest son of Louis and Louise Anfenger.
