Abstract

The Beck Archives Photograph Collection contains photographs, negatives, and other materials which reflect the rich, varied, and vibrant Jewish experience in the Rocky Mountain region, with a special emphasis on Colorado. It also contains some photographs from other states and countries.

Scope and Contents From the Collection: This collection contains records of the Judd construction company and personal papers of members of the Judd family. The materials in this collection primarily relate to the operation of the Judd Construction Company from 1949 through 1991 and concentrate on the construction industry in Denver, Colorado. Scope and Contents From the Collection: The collection includes Sam Weinstein's World War II army jacket and Jewish War Veterans uniform. The collection also contains a 1931 Kynewisbok (DU yearbook) that belonged to Rowena M. Akers and a folder with University of Denver memorabilia and graduation materials from 1933. An accrual in September 2022 brought in material culture items, including dresses, jackets, baby dresses, black swimming slippers, and household items. Abstract Alexander Kagan was born in Paris, France in 1906 to Russian parents. At the age of 14, Alexander began work as a fabric and jewelry designer. He came to the United States in 1922 with his mother Chana (Anna) and his brother Haim Persah (Paul). He worked as a fabric designer in New York and in 1930 he became a US citizen. In 1942, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps and was stationed in Pueblo, Colorado. He graduated from the University of Denver in 1954 and died in the Denver area in 1994....

Abstract

Phi Sigma Delta Fraternity was formed in 1909 at Columbia University and operated until in 1969-70, Phi Sigma Delta and Phi Epsilon Pi merged into Zeta Beta Tau. Phi Sigma Delta (Theta chapter) fraternity was organized at University of Colorado in 1919. Collection contains photographs, scrapbooks, publications, and administrative papers from Phi Sigma Delta, Theta 1918 through 1981.
