INCAR and Racism at DU, 1981-1983
Papers pertaining to the International Committee Against Racism's DU activities, which Prof. Gilbert was heavily involved in, including racism in the DU Clarion, racial violence perpetrated against an Afghani-American student at DU, allegedly unjust firing of Black DU employees, a talk about John Brown, protests against figures such as Henry Kissinger and William Coors, and a letter condemning the Clarion for not covering affirmative action issues.
Oleta L. Crane for Colorado Reflections
Oleta L. Crane, the first Black woman in the Rocky Mountain area to be accepted as a member of the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps, reflects on her time as a young adult. Crane discusses her civil rights activism and attending the Waveland Conference in Mississippi in 1939. Crane reflects on her experiences with segregation, racism, and discrimination. Crane discusses her time in the Army, her training, her different positions and ranks, and her life after retiring from the military.

Racism at DU - Anthony (Ophry) Jackson, ca. 1981
Papers pertaining to the workplace harassment and firing of Anthony (Ophry) Jackson, a young Black janitor at DU, including: a document entitled "Rehire Ophry Jackson: Rally in front of student union;" a document entitled "No Pride Allowed for D.U. workers;" a flyer for a rally in suppoer of Denver janitors' workers' rights; and a letter, signed by a number of DU affiliates including Mr. Jackson and Prof. Gilbert, describing Mr. Jackson's situation and making demands.

Papers pertaining to the firing of Joe Patterson, a Black electrician at DU, and subsequent protests and rallies surrounding the affirmative action case filed by Mr. Patterson, including: a letter to the Clarion editor entitled "INCAR voices racism concerns over firing of black DU electrician;" several flyers for protests and rallies in support of Mr. Patterson; INCAR pamphlets pertaining to Mr. Patterson; and many petition sheets signed in support of Mr. Patterson.
