Biography

The first reference to Colorado Seminary was in The Rocky Mountain News of November 27, 1862: “ a board of Trustees, composed of the solid men of Denver, has been organized to superintend the erection of a seminary building… for an academic education.”

Abstract

A University of Denver student throws another student into the air in a tumbling exercise. The students are standing on a tumbling mat in Observatory Park, with two chairs and a row of houses in the background. Tumbling was a popular collegiate sport in the early 20th century.

Abstract

A group of male students participate in a tumbling exercise at the University of Denver. One of the students is doing a headstand, a second is grabbing his ankles and swinging over him, and while a third is preparing to catch him. The students are standing on a large cloth in an open grassy area, with Buchtel Memorial Chapel visible in the background. Tumbling was a popular collegiate sport in the early 20th century.
